Went back to the box

Went back to Crossfit yesterday for the WOD. It was good seeing old faces. Everyone was looking really good. The WOD was a 1-1-1-1-1-1 deadlift max and a 3-3-3 benchpress max, followed by a tabata rowing session for 1500m. I have been working on my deadlift a lot lately, and finally got it down. I have never went for a max deadlift, so this was a perfect time to try. I knew that everyone could help me out incase my technique wasn’t quite right. I ended up getting 475lb’s which surprised me. The first time I ever deadlifter I wrecked my back trying to lift 315. I think my problem then was I was usuing my arms more than anything. I think I could’ve gotten passed 500 if I tried more. I only got through 4 lifts, then time ran out. On the bench I got 225×3,  255×3 then 265×2. I failed on the last rep on 265 because I was gassed from the rowing. Speeeaking of rowing. The workout was Tabata rowing for 15oo meters. Row for 20 seconds, rest for 10… on and on until you reach 1500m. I’ve been rowing a LOT lately, so I had a strategy coming in.  I rowed fairly easy for the first 10 seconds, then went balls to the wall for the last 10 seconds so that the meters would go a little faster during the 10 second break. It paid off because I finished first in 12rds. I think 16 seconds had gone by in the 12th too, so it turns out to be 1500 4minutes and 16 seconds of work. Which turns out to be 1:25 per 500m. I think it’s time to find out my new 500m PR too. I am down to 1:24, but I think I could shave a second of two off of that.

Wow.. it’s been a while, lol.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written. I’m not really a blogger, so I’m not totally surprised.  Since this blog was really meant to talk about exercise and fitness, I’ll start with that. I stayed with PCF for about another month after my comeback then left again. I wanted to save more money, and I thought I could do it on my own. I was right… sort of. I’ve saved a lot of money by making my own food and not eating out as much, not drinking, and just being smart about things. I, however, was not successful at keeping up with crossfit outside the box. I gained a lot of weight and ballooned up to 289lbs. I couldn’t believe I was letting myself go again. I decided to needed to make a change and I had to stick with it. I gave up drinking, and started making my own breakfast, lunch and dinner EVERY day. I’m not down to 263, and I feel a lot healthier. I’ve been down to the 260′s and 250′s before, but I feel a lot healthier this time around. I lost a good amount of fat,  and gained and maintained muscle. I’ve been working out at Gold’s (hope no one from PCF is reading this, they’re probably shaking their heads in disbelief  lol. It’s not totally bad tho. I’ve been mixing crossfit workouts with the normal globo workouts. I will say also that most of the things I do in the gym are crossfit related. When I do cardio I’ll do Tabata rowing. Run 400m at a fast pace, then do 10 pushups, then do it over and over again until I can’t anymore.  I am definitely Crossfit at heart.  I am looking to go back to PCF for Fight Gone Bad on the 26th. It will be nice to see everyone again.

5 Rounds of: 1 minute Row 1 minute DB thrusters, 35/25lbs 3 minutes rest

Wooow. This WOD was hardcore. My strategy was to go balls to the wall in the first round, and do what I could the next 4. It worked out… kind of lol. My first round was 51. I rowed 38 calories in a minute, and did 13 Thrusters. My lowest round was round4, which I got a 21. I was so beat that I couldn’t do anything. I ended up with a 165 total. That seemed to get the average of most of the folks. A few people broke 200, but not many. I can’t wait until my cardio is great so I can row the shit out of people, lol.

Diet wise, things are going well. I bought my scale today, so I will now be weighing my food. I’ve done a ketosis/zone diet this week, but now I am going full zone. I’ve lost 3lbs so far this week, so that’s good news also. Heyoooo, here we go!

PCF WOD 090126
Max Rounds in 20 min:
10 Sumo Deadlift Highpull, 95/75 lbs
15 Knees to Elbows
20 Double Unders
Post Rounds to Comments.

4 1/3 rds as RX’d.

My SDHP’s were alright, but my KTE’s really slowed me down. My hands were hurting, and I was doing one at a time. I killed the DU’s every time, but that still wasn’t enough to make up for my slow KTE’s. I did it as RX because I find it easier to track my progress. I’d rather get a low score as RX’d than a higher score  with scaling because I’ll be able to see results faster.

I haven’t made my meal spreadsheet yet, but here’s now I’m looking.

0830- 3 Eggs, 6 slices of bacon

1130- 2 Cans tuna, Bowl of Salad, Creamy Ceasar Dressing

1430- 2 Spoons of peanut butter ( Fuck I love peanut butter lol)

1930- 1 Huuuge chicken breast, 1 bowl of salad

2100- 8 strawberries

2130- I spoon of peanut butter.

Heyooo, he’s back!

I’m back at crossfit, and ready for a new beginning. I recently took 2 months off at Potomac Crossfit (wtf was I thinking?) but have not been able to find my “groove” since returning. Blame it on family visits, lack of will, or whatever have you. For the first time in a while, though, I feel I am completely ready to go. I went grocery shopping last night and got enough Zone friendly items to feed a family. I am absolutely dedicated to getting into the best shape I’ve ever been in. I’m ready to lead the crossfit pack. I’ve done my homework, and am confident it will be a success. I look to be 225 lbs by May 1st.

Every year I give up alcohol for a period of time. My roommates back home were catholic, and I always did lent with them. 5 years later I still do it, but at random and for longer periods of time. I’ve decided that I’m giving up alcohol until my birthday (April 19th) I haven’t had any since last sunday, so it will be 3 months on the button.  I gave it up last year for 40, 30 and 66 days last year, so it won’t be tough. Along with alcohol, I will be giving up fast food, candy, and bread.

It’s going to be a great 3 months. Once I’m in, I’m in 100%. Let’s Goooooo!
